2017 Federal Issues
Created in 1906, the Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) serves the counties of Washington State. WSAC members include elected county commissioners, council members and executives from all of Washington’s 39 counties. WSAC provides a variety of services to its member counties including advocacy, training and workshops, a worker’s compensation retrospective rating pool and a forum to network and share best practices.
After years of printing and distributing Word documents with clip art and uncropped images, WSAC wanted to revitalize their look and take their publication in a more professional direction. The client needed their Federal Issues handouts recreated in a format more appealing and easy-to-read to communicate issues of all 39 counties to a wide range of legislators
Charged with art direction, concept, and design for the booklet, I established the goal at the very beginning to create something you would actually want to keep in your bookshelf, and (maybe) even show off. I transformed the existing format – a large, wordy, nearly disposable MS Word pamphlet – into a smaller, more substantial book with heavier paper weight and pleasing details throughout.
